ERA is working to meet the demands of the changing energy landscape by increasing the supply of highly-trained, skilled postgraduates across the spectrum of energy research. Utilising the current breadth of research in the region with over 500 academics and 1000 energy researchers, we want to develop the best energy researchers and create a talent pipeline to secure the UK’s position as a leader in energy research and innovation.

 

GROWING AND SUSTAINING THE ERA SKILLS COMMUNITY

The ERA Skills Academy aims to foster an active and engaging research culture, including using the researcher community as a source of innovation and ideas, and providing researchers with the skills to be active participants in delivering ERA’s energy research and innovation programme. By joining the ERA Skills Academy, you will receive regular updates on bespoke events and activities, be given the opportunity to co-create researcher development opportunities and be invited to monthly on-line “coffee and catch-up” sessions, other benefits include:

Tailored Skills Development

The energy landscape is changing rapidly. New skills are needed to apply technological, commercial and policy advances in the energy industry. There is an increasing demand across industry for experts who have the ability to develop and implement innovative new energy technologies. ERA is working to meet this demand by increasing the supply of highly-trained, skilled postgraduates across the spectrum of energy research. ERA is helping to create a talent pipeline to secure the UK’s position as a leader in energy research and innovation.

As a member of the ERA Skills Academy doctoral students and researchers have access to a diverse range of skills development opportunities including access to member only resources.

DEDICATED POST-DOCTORAL DEVELOPMENT

The Centre for postdoctoral development in infrastructure, cities and energy (C-DICE) is an integral part of the ERA Skills Academy, with the majority of post-doctoral skills training being delivered via this programme. C-DICE leverages the capability of 18 leading research-intensive UK universities, bringing together the collective expertise of the UKCRIC universities with the partners of ERA.
