Hollin Hill Landslide Observatory, North Yorkshire At Hollin Hill a system of monitoring landslide movement has been developed by BGS by combining geomorphological mapping, terrestrial LiDAR and real-time monitoring with geophysics. Scientific research at this site has been designed to enable BGS to accurately monitor and eventually aid the forecasting of movement of the landslide. It brings together a combination of field surveying, geomorphological, geophysical, engineering and hydrogeological expertise at BGS. Aldbrough Coastal Landslide Observatory, North Yorkshire Aldbrough is located approximately 10 km south-east of Hornsea. The cliffs here are rapidly eroding. As part of the continued programme of work monitoring coastal erosion and landsliding at several sites around the coast of Great Britain, BGS is studying, monitoring and laser-scanning the cliffs at Aldbrough in Yorkshire. As part of the continued programme of work monitoring coastal erosion at Aldbrough in Yorkshire that is helping to improve the understanding of the linkages between landsliding and coastal erosion.
