The Energy Research Accelerator has launched a new series of podcasts about its ‘Big Ideas’ in energy innovation.

The series includes four podcasts of interviews with our Director, Professor Martin Freer and Programme Director, Faye McAnulla.

Two of the podcasts focus on the six Big Ideas in energy, these include Energy Storage, Decarbonising Heat, Alternative Fuels, System Simulation, Energy from Waste and Low Carbon Transport.

Martin Freer explains the reasons why we have focused on these ideas and how they will help the UK to achieve net-zero, creating around 7,000 jobs and delivering £1.5 billion of GVA to the Midlands economy.

The third podcast includes a discussion with Faye McAnulla on the ‘Cross Cutting’ themes that support the Big Ideas. These themes range from Business Support, to Living Labs, Skills and more. A package of support which will help Midlands businesses and the region to lead the way in energy innovation.

The fourth podcast brings the Big Ideas and Cross Cuttings discussions together in a single, longer format.

Speaking about the podcast series, ERA’s Programme Director, Faye McAnulla said: “We are very excited about our proposal for the Big Ideas and Cruss Cutting themes. We have 40 businesses supporting our proposal, along with the Midlands Innovation universities, British Geological Survey and the Energy Systems, Connected Places and Manufacturing Technology catapults.

“If anyone is interested in finding out more about these, they can download our document and now can listen to these new podcasts. We have produced these in various lengths so people can download an episode which fits with the time they have available to listen.”
