Join Energy Research Accelerator for this in-person serious game workshop. Step into the shoes of key players in a national-scale decarbonisation effort, with this new business game from Heuristic. Decarb-a-nation© is an innovative, challenging, yet fun workshop day where participants interact with the complex journey to net zero in an immersive, accessible way. Through the power of heuristic gameplay and discussions facilitated by energy industry experts with over 80 years of combined experience, participants run realistic decarbonisation scenarios in a safe and relaxed environment, using real data that has direct parallels in the real world.

How it works: You will work as part of a team taking on the perspectives of Households, Industry, Power Utilities, Local Authorities, or National Government. You’ll navigate conflicting priorities, make strategic proposals, and vote on policies, responding to real-world energy scenarios based on nationally recognised datasets* Collaborate, negotiate, and compete across multiple fictional regions and experience the trade-offs, tensions, and interdependencies of decarbonisation – all whilst having fun!

Who is it for?

This FREE to attend workshop is open to participants from universities (doctoral and post-doctoral researchers) and industry / energy sectors. Please note that places are limited to 26 participants and priority will be given to doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers affiliated to ERA partner intuitions.
