What can we learn from the COVID-19 response that we can apply to the Net Zero challenge?

22nd May 2020 - online workshops

Many of the behavioural changes that have happened in response to COVID-19 have had the unintended effect of reducing carbon emissions. What we can learn from the response to COVID-19 at an individual, societal and corporate level? How can we adapt and apply this knowledge to drive behavioural changes that could help to achieve the UK government’s target of Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2050?

During the week, participants have been letting us know their thoughts and we are bringing this together with two seminars on Friday 22nd May which are looking at different aspects. Whether or not you have taken part during the week, you are welcome to join either or both of these FREE webinars.

Outline of the week:

The week will kick of with an online discussion on Monday 18th May, outlining the weeks activities.

Then we will commence the Divergent phase where participants will be invited to share their views on what procedures, lessons and drivers we can adapt from COVID-19 behavioural changes at the personal, societal and corporate level and apply to the problem of reducing carbon emissions to Net zero by 2050? In this divergent phase we will blow up the overall question into several more focused questions.

This will be followed by a Convergent phase where we will cluster the responses from the participants into clusters of similar questions to help focus our minds on a more defined question. A few of these clusters will be chosen to be explored further, during our virtual workshops that will take place at the end of the week. You are welcome to participate in as many or as few of these activities as you wish. A timetable of events can be found below:
